First Time Visitors
We welcome you to attend any of our three worship services. The descriptions below will help you know what to expect when you arrive.
"Amplified" Saturdays at 7:00 pm.
We created this flexible and dynamic service to reach the younger generation and anyone who is unable to worship on Sunday mornings. While the service is originally intended to draw younger people into the awareness of God's presence, like all services, it is open to people of all ages. The music is modern worship music, and the atmosphere is relaxed around coffee tables where light refreshments can be enjoyed during the service. Following the message there is time for discussion.
"Worship By the Bay" Sundays at 8:15 am.
Why do we call it "Worship by the Bay?" Because from the first week of May until the second week of October, we meet at the Somers Point Beach, at the corner of Higbee Rd. and Bay Ave., overlooking the Great Egg Harbor Bay. In the case of inclement weather, and from the third week in October until the last week of April, we meet at the church in the same intimate and informal room that we use for the "Amplified" service on Saturday night. The "Worship By the Bay" Service is informal and welcoming to all people. While informal, we also serve communion every Sunday at this service.
"Traditional Worship" Sundays at 10:45 am.
We call the 10:45 am service the "Traditional Service," only for lack of a better term. It is in some ways more formal than our other services, featuring classical hymns and organ music. However, most people dress casually, and it is not out of the ordinary for the service to include contemporary music. The service takes place in our beautiful sanctuary.
Children
We welcome and encourage children to participate in all of our worship services. Communal worship is the gathering for people of all ages. Since children learn through movement and activity, their presence in the service teaches them how to participate in worship. We also provide coloring and activity sheets that correspond with the lesson of the day so children can be active and stay connected to what is going on around them. We have a space in the back of the sanctuary with rocking chairs an open space so young children can have a little space to roam and parents have the option of rocking their baby. If you would prefer to take advantage of the nursury, please let our ushers know and they will assist you.
